How to Pick Out and Arrange Baby Bedding for the Crib
Give your baby lovely dreams by choosing warm bedding and arranging it for maximum safety and comfort.
Sleepyheads, It's Time for Bed
Bedtime and naps are critical for children. Sleep assists them in resetting, improving their mood, and contributing to their growth and development. We know how adorable newborns are when they're tiny and sleeping, which is why we place a premium on excellent bedding for a good night's sleep.
Though it may be tempting to fill a crib with adorable teddies, blankets, bumpers, cushions, and other decorative objects, parents should refrain for at least a year. Setting up a crib for a baby is much easier than you would think.
Little babies sleep approximately nine hours during the day and eight hours at night. With so much time spent sleeping, infant crib bedding must be safe.
What Should and Should Not Be Placed in a Baby's Crib
Have you considered safety when constructing your baby's crib? Babies require a flat sleeping surface to support their heads, whether it's a crib, bassinet, or any current safety standard-compliant bed. Do not leave a baby asleep in a car seat, stroller, swing, or other non-bed-like device.
When your child has finished sleeping, the crib should be empty of any items. Anything loose in a crib, including blankets, toys, mattress toppers, loose sheets, or anything else that can be easily removed, might pose a hazard.
To keep your infant warm, make sure the room is warm and that they are dressed in layers that keep them at the proper temperature. Simple products with no added fluff are preferable for putting them to sleep in the crib—anything with ribbons, extra buttons, and other bits should be avoided for something more streamlined during the sleeping hours.
How to Select Crib Bedding
Baby bedding requires special thought. As previously said, baby cribs should not include any extraneous objects, such as sheets, pillows, blankets, and other items commonly found on a bed. As babies grow bigger, you can introduce accessories such as a quilted blanket or a toddler pillow.
Don't be concerned, dear parent! We'll walk you through the crib bedding you actually need for your baby to sleep soundly.
Superior Fabric
Because babies have fragile, sensitive skin, fabric selection is an important aspect of crib bedding. Ideally, you want a breathable and delicate fabric that feels like a warm hug. Choosing eco-friendly materials that match these criteria will provide your child with a clean and comfortable sleeping environment.
INFANSY’S infant blanket goods are made from a variety of fabrics, including GOTS certified organic cotton, wicking cotton, eco-friendly silky cotton fill, and others.
Fitted Crib Sheets and Mattress Protectors
Let's be honest: infant leaks and messes occur at all hours of the day and night. Using a well-fitting mattress protector over your crib mattress can keep it clean and dry even when diapers fail.
A fitted crib sheet is essential for babies. It is the foundation of your crib setup. This sheet, like your mattress protector, must fit snuggly onto your baby's crib mattress when putting up the crib. Any additional cloth provides a possible choking hazard; therefore, a correct fit is critical. Aesthetics are also important when selecting a fitted crib sheet, as newborns should not have blankets until they are 12 to 18 months old.
We are major fans of beautiful, evergreen motifs that retain their allure even if you use the same crib sheets for all of your children.
Sleeping Bags for Swaddling
Keep a swaddling sleep sack in the crib for quick access when your baby needs to nap. These sleep bags limit a baby's movements by mimicking what it was like for them in the womb—safe, secure, and warm. If you prefer to swaddle your infant, wrap it tightly enough to control their movements while still allowing them to breathe.
Sleeping Suits
Until your child is old enough to sleep properly with a blanket, a sleep sack is a better option. Consider these to be cute, wearable blankets, similar to a snug bodysuit that zips up to keep your baby warm and safe at night. To maintain your infant at the proper temperature, choose a sleep suit with an adequate TOG rating that corresponds to the weather or season.
TOG Score
What exactly is a TOG rating? Thermal Overall Grade (TOG) is an industry measurement of a product's thermal insulation. The warmer the product, the higher the TOG rating. Determine the TOG you require before purchasing a sleep bag or sleep suit by taking into account the temperature of the room, the clothing they wear at bedtime, and the baby's general temperature.
As babies grow, their bedding evolves.
A crib setting is relatively straightforward, and keeping it clear of extraneous items when your baby is little helps keep them secure while sleeping.
Babies can begin sleeping with new bedding after around a year. At this point, you can re-evaluate their bedding and make any necessary changes or additions. Remember all those adorable items you wanted to put in the crib? This is a good age to start introducing a bedtime stuffy, blanket, or tiny pillow.
Sleep Tight, Goodnight
When newborns sleep better, it allows parents and guardians to sleep better as well. Setting up a baby crib with the proper bedding allows you to rest easier knowing that you've provided them with a safe atmosphere in which to sleep.
